Role Overview:
As an Associate Research Scientist, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting routine analyses of vector samples to assess quality attributes, supporting process development studies through biophysical techniques and cell-based assays.
- Engaging in the culturing of primary cells, performing staining, and utilizing flow cytometry.
- Executing hands-on experimental work focused on the development and optimization of both upstream (cell culture and transfection conditions) and downstream (clarification, tangential flow filtration, chromatography) processes for viral vector production.
- Designing, planning, executing, and analyzing laboratory experiments.
- Managing the inventory of samples and materials, ensuring proper handling and storage protocols are followed.
- Maintaining thorough documentation of experimental results via an electronic lab notebook.
- Summarizing and presenting scientific data, reporting findings to project teams.
- Upholding a safe working environment in compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biological or Chemical Engineering, Virology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Practical experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation relevant to proteins, cells, and/or viral vectors.
- Strong aseptic technique and familiarity with mammalian and/or primary cell culture.
- Experience with flow cytometry instrumentation, including maintenance and software (e.g., FlowJo).
- Background in upstream and/or downstream bioprocess development.
- Ability to apply scientific principles and engineering fundamentals to resolve challenges.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $56 - $58 per hour
