Position Overview

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, providing essential support in the Interventional Radiology (IR) department. This position involves working with advanced imaging technology and assisting in various interventional procedures.

Job Details

  • Typical Imaging Procedures: Involvement in all IR procedures, supporting neuro IR, vascular, and neuro surgeons. Responsibilities include scrubbing in and circulating during procedures.
  • Daily Case Load: Average of 10-20 cases per day, including stroke cases which may vary from 1-4 per week. Two IR techs are assigned per room.
  • Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of experience required; travel experience and experience in stroke receiving facilities are preferred.
  • Department Equipment: Philips imaging systems
  • Orientation: New travelers will be assigned a preceptor for the first week.
Job Requirements
  • BLS Certification and ARRT (R) Verification
  • Washington State License; IV Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required; travel experience and stroke receiving facility experience preferred.
Schedule Information
  • Shifts: 4-10 hour shifts with rotating days off. Shifts typically start at 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Weeknight Call: 1-2 days per week, with call from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Weekend Call: 1 weekend per month, with a call group of 9. Call begins Friday at 6:00 PM and ends Monday at 7:00 AM.
  • Holiday Call: Must work if a holiday falls on a scheduled shift or call shift, with holiday pay provided.
  • Response Time: 30 minutes required for call or standby.
Unit Specific Information
  • Scanners/Radiology Rooms: 3 rooms total - 2 biplane and 1 single plane, with one room always reserved for stroke cases. Hybrid OR with CT/IR scanner available.
  • Floating/Additional Areas: Hybrid OR experience is not mandatory.
  • IV Start Requirements: IVs will be managed by IR RNs.
  • Dress Code: Scrubs will be provided.
