Job Description

VetJobs is seeking a highly skilled Security Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of the Department of State (DOS) Office of Security Management (SM).

Responsibilities
  • Review assigned diplomatic construction projects to identify security needs and ensure site integrity.
  • Develop a project-specific Construction Security Plan (CSP) incorporating a Site Security Plan (SSP) and a Transit Security Plan (TSP) for classified and sensitive equipment and areas.
  • Set program and project priorities based on the Security Environment Threat List (SETL) and determine numbers and deployment dates for Site Security Managers (SSMs), Cleared American Guards (CAGs), and Construction Surveillance Technicians (CSTs).
  • Arrange for local guards to ensure an appropriate level of access control at site.
  • Coordinate personnel deployment dates with proponents of assigned projects and affected posts to resolve pre-construction security issues.
  • Plan and oversee the transit of sensitive construction materials and coordinate with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) concerning the timely deployment of SSMs.
  • Review architectural drawings and plans to ensure classification guidelines have been adhered to and provide guidance to architects and project managers concerning classification issues.
  • Develop information and supporting justifications needed for budget plans and cost estimates for travel expenses, specialized equipment procurement, site managers, guards, and other project-specific expenses.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred.
  • 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Mastery of construction security, technical security, and physical security standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security policies, procedures, and practices of the Department of State.
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop, and integrate new security systems and technologies.
  • Ability to understand and interpret design drawings and construction plans.
  • Knowledge of federal contracting requirements and project management principles.
