Job Summary

Denver Health is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Intern to join our team in the Acute Care Pharmacy department. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will have the opportunity to work under the close supervision of a licensed pharmacist and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of pharmacy practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Development: Participate in theoretical, practical, and technical training programs to develop skills and knowledge in pharmacy practice.
  • Medication Management: Assist in the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications, including filling medication cassettes, pre-packing bulk medications, and preparing sterile and non-sterile products.
  • Order Processing: Interpret and clarify orders for medications, evaluate orders for potential chemical, physical, or therapeutic incompatibilities, and monitor drug therapy for potential interactions.
  • Inventory Management: Restock and deliver medications and related supplies to patient care areas, prepare inventories, and order drugs and supplies as needed.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain accurate records, and adhere to regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Licensure: Pharmacy Intern licensure in good standing.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
