Job Summary

We are seeking a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Technician to join our team at ECS Midwest, LLC. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing on construction materials for various projects under the supervision of senior technicians and other lab staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific tasks associated with conducting laboratory testing on construction materials.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
  • Assist with tasks to maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness in compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) initiatives to maintain accreditation compliance.
  • Notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for soils including Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, unconfined compressive strength testing, standard and modified proctor testing, and visually classify soils.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for concrete including labeling and setting samples for curing, monitoring temperature logs, and breaking of samples.
  • Perform calculations and data reduction based on test results.
  • Demonstrate competency of testing methods by documenting results accurately.

Requirements
  • No experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain laboratory certifications for concrete or soils.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT laboratory equipment, testing methods, and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, or both.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
