Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Technician to join our team at ECS Midwest, LLC. As a CMT Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing on construction materials for various projects under the supervision of senior technicians and other lab staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific tasks associated with conducting laboratory testing on construction materials for various projects.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
  • Assist with tasks to maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness in compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) initiatives to maintain accreditation compliance.
  • Notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for soils including Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, unconfined compressive strength testing, standard and modified proctor testing, and visually classify soils.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for concrete including labeling and setting samples for curing, monitoring temperature logs, and breaking of samples.
  • Perform calculations and data reduction based on test results.
  • Demonstrate competency of testing methods by documenting results accurately.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who is willing to obtain and maintain laboratory certifications for concrete or soils. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, have a valid driver's license and insurance, and be willing to obtain knowledge of CMT laboratory equipment, testing methods, and ASTM laboratory standards.
