The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is charged with overseeing the overall effectiveness and operational outcomes of the Maintenance Department. This role provides strategic leadership to the on-site Maintenance team, which includes Maintenance Supervisors, leads, technicians, clerks, and coordinators. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with enhancing plant asset utilization, maximizing uptime, and boosting production through the application of established Professional Maintenance and reliability enhancement strategies. This position guarantees timely and proactive maintenance support to all plant partners by instituting robust work management protocols. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing the department budget, fostering professional and technical staff development, and achieving maintenance performance metrics. Additionally, this role seeks innovative methods to minimize utility consumption and safeguard the environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement departmental objectives aligned with Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) goals, including the development and execution of strategies, processes, and programs. Monitor performance and hold the team accountable for meeting targets.
  • Guide and support the professional growth of maintenance team members; inspire, mentor, and cultivate a diverse, high-performing, and engaged team to achieve established objectives and enhance organizational capability.
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and evaluation of operational methodologies aimed at improving factory efficiency and reliability, increasing asset utilization, and reducing costs.
  • Lead initiatives to measure and enhance equipment effectiveness, reduce downtime, and improve overall equipment performance (OEE) through the establishment of a predictive maintenance program.
  • Utilize Total Productive Maintenance frameworks, tools, and techniques throughout the extended supply chain.
  • Effectively communicate changes by advocating within the site and network, encouraging inquiries, and promoting collaborative behavior. Employ active listening and facilitation skills to ensure comprehension and engage in problem-solving.
  • Manage the stockroom operations that supply essential repair parts for critical process equipment and necessary consumables for the facility.
  • Integrate Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Lean Manufacturing, and TPM principles into departmental operations and employ analytical tools to assess breakdown losses and other improvement opportunities.
  • Set the strategic direction and oversee change initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining the annual maintenance budget.
  • Report on food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with the authority to initiate corrective actions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven ability to support a long-term maintenance strategy, focusing on improvements in Reliability, KPIs, and cost savings.
  • Expertise in fostering professional relationships that facilitate cross-functional collaboration throughout the organization.
  • Capability to manage projects aimed at process enhancements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure systems (nitrogen, electrical, steam, compressed air).
  • Flexibility to work as required based on facility demands.
  • Commitment to upholding Safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, and SQF (Safe Quality Food) compliance.
  • Extensive experience with plant maintenance software; Maintenance Connection is preferred.

  • Act as a liaison among Engineering, Production, Warehouse, Sanitation, and Quality Departments.
  • Adept at managing competing priorities.
  • Advanced problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills that yield effective solutions.
  • Exceptional time management abilities and capacity to multitask.
  • Proficient in preventive maintenance programs and management.
  • Ability to lead and take ownership of the maintenance department.
Education and/or Experience:
  • An associate's or technical school degree in mechanics, electrical, computer science, or food processing is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of maintenance leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience within a dairy or aseptic manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems is essential.
