Financial Reporting Accountant

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly Retirement Recordkeeping reinsurance financial statements and reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions
  • Develop and document procedures for testing changes to automated accounting feeds
  • Support the preparation and communication of financial information for auditors, insurance examiners, rating agencies, and company leaders
  • Participate in projects related to financial reporting or financial contracts
  • Reconcile monthly settlement statements and financials from third-party administrators

Requirements:

  • Accounting experience with exposure to statutory, management-based, tax, and GAAP for financial reporting and budgeting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Math
  • Demonstrated initiative to serve as a resource for team members and independently manage projects
  • Written and verbal communication skills to provide superior customer service to a variety of business partners
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements and reports
  • Understanding of the structure of data within financial and administration systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of insurance concepts and products
  • Reinsurance accounting experience

Work Environment:

Securian Financial Group is a hybrid work environment, allowing associates to work both virtually and in our offices. Associates are expected to work in our offices 2-3 days per week and have the flexibility to work from home the remaining days.
