Key Responsibilities


The Nursing Staffing Specialist plays a vital role in supporting patient care units by managing staffing requests and effectively allocating available resources within the Nursing Department on a shift-by-shift basis.

This role involves:

  • Allocating staffing resources based on assessed patient care needs by reviewing staffing recommendation reports and collaborating with charge RNs to fulfill staffing requirements.
  • Analyzing staffing patterns and trends to identify when staffing levels are adequate or when to initiate hiring processes or grant excused absences.
  • Assisting in contacting staff to communicate placement, grant excused absences, and assess their availability for work.
  • Providing orientation to nurse managers, nursing supervisors, and RN staff regarding staffing practices and procedural guidelines.
Qualifications


Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience in an inpatient care unit in a patient care or support capacity is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with proficient computer skills.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a schedule that includes:


Monday - Sunday shifts; 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday with varied start times, and 12-hour shifts on weekends.

Weekend Schedule

12-hour shifts every third weekend.
