Key Responsibilities- Manage a substantial portfolio of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Screen invention disclosures and assess their commercial potential, identifying opportunities for licensing and revenue generation.
- Develop and implement patent strategies, working closely with external patent counsel to protect Penn State's intellectual property.
- Market inventions to potential licensees, negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements to secure licensing deals.
- Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders in the Invent Penn State community, including faculty, staff, and industry partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office of Technology Management.
- A Master's degree or higher in a technical or business discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of related experience in intellectual property management, licensing, or a related field.
- Strong technical background in an engineering discipline, business, or technology licensing experience.
- Working knowledge of intellectual property protection strategies, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and draft complex agreements.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Competitive salary range: $76,129,500.
