Job Overview

Position Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is integral to the operational safety and regulatory adherence of Sherman and Reilly Inc. This role is responsible for the development and oversight of all facets of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department, ensuring that the organization effectively addresses safety, environmental, and employee health concerns.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate training, supervision, investigation, and reporting to enhance safety and ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate safety hazards, identify root causes, and create programs and training initiatives aimed at risk mitigation.
  • Analyze incident reports, conduct investigations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation that complies with business and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage environmental compliance issues, including hazardous materials training, waste disposal, air quality permits, and documentation.
  • Oversee and update online safety training programs.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols across the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Manage requests and updates for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Foster a positive safety culture by promoting visibility on the floor and building strong relationships with employees.
  • Address all environmental requirements related to facilities and customers.
  • Identify safety initiatives that enhance employee engagement and aim for zero accidents and losses.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the company's policies, standards, and principles, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Advise on modifications to processes to account for potential hazards during operations.
  • Oversee pandemic-related testing and supplies as necessary.
