Position Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Plant Controller, the Cost Accounting Manager will play a crucial role within the local finance team and serve as a financial collaborator at the facility. This role involves the analysis and interpretation of financial performance, closely collaborating with the Operations Finance Team on processes related to:
- Annual plant budgeting
- Quarterly forecasting
- Month-end financial closures
- Various ad-hoc financial reporting
This position will actively engage in the development, validation, analysis, and dissemination of financial and operational data concerning cost enhancements, capital budgeting processes, and related initiatives.
Key Duties Include:
- Delivering financial insights to the operations team to facilitate informed decision-making, including:
- Analysis of continuous improvement projects
- Development and assessment of capital and CB2 initiatives
- Cost analysis for new product introductions
- Various ad-hoc financial reports
- Collaborating with the Plant Controller and finance team to ensure the accuracy of standard costs, aligning with operational cost improvement goals.
- Assisting the finance team in crafting three-year strategic plans, annual budget documentation, and quarterly forecasts, which involve:
- Validating production metrics and analyzing operational leverage
- Ensuring productivity benchmarks are met
- Working alongside Operations and Strategic Sourcing to mitigate material cost increases
- Conducting reviews to confirm appropriate staffing and overhead structures
- Ensuring accuracy in manufacturing variances and start-up costs
- Supporting capital expenditure planning and analysis, including budgeting and reporting.
- Analyzing inventory levels and days inventory on-hand (DIO) to meet operational targets.
- Assisting the Plant Controller in maintaining compliance with GAAP, legal, and internal accounting standards.
- In partnership with the Center of Excellence (COE) and Plant Controller, ensuring timely and precise financial performance reporting.
- Overseeing annual physical inventory and/or cycle-count programs to ensure data accuracy.
- Preparing and communicating various operational metrics as needed.
- Engaging in special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Strong analytical capabilities are necessary.
- Familiarity with capital budgeting principles, including IRR/NPV and product costing methodologies, is advantageous.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively under pressure while managing multiple detailed tasks.
