Geoprime Energy is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead and oversee energy projects from conception through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, preferably within the energy or utility industry.
Key Responsibilities- Project Planning and Initiation
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that align with business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and budget estimates.
- Identify project stakeholders and establish communication plans to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
- Project Execution and Coordination
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and operations, to execute projects according to plan.
- Coordinate with internal departments, external contractors, and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of project components.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Budget and Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that all expenditures are tracked and that projects are completed within financial constraints.
- Prepare cost estimates, manage procurement activities, and negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, including cost forecasting, variance analysis, and change orders.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure that all projects adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements, including safety and environmental guidelines.
- Implement quality control processes to verify that project deliverables meet or exceed expectations.
- Conduct regular project audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, including technical, financial, and operational risks.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation plans and monitor risk factors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that contingency plans are in place and that the project team is prepared to respond to unexpected challenges.
- Stakeholder Communication and Reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
- Prepare and deliver regular project status reports, presentations, and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Facilitate meetings and communications between project teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Project Closure and Handover
- Ensure that all project deliverables are completed, documented, and approved by stakeholders.
- Oversee the transition of completed projects to operations, including training, documentation handover, and performance testing.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate project team members to achieve high performance and professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging open communication and the sharing of ideas.
- Identify and address team training and development needs to enhance overall project execution capabilities.
- Continuous Improvement
- Promote and implement best practices in project management, including the use of project management tools and methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile).
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve project processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at improving project delivery and overall business performance.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
- Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, preferably within the energy or utility industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering or construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Experience with energy infrastructure projects, such as power generation, transmission, or distribution, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., PMI, Agile, MS Project).
- Familiarity with energy industry regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., NERC, FERC, IEEE).
- Understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Skills
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering practical and effective solutions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar tools.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Certifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Additional certifications related to energy engineering, construction management, or financial management are a plus.
- Technical Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations.
- Familiarity with project management and financial software is essential.
Geoprime Energy offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for professional growth and development. The salary range for this position is from $90,000 to $120,000.
