About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse I to join our team at the University of Illinois Chicago. As a Staff Nurse I, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our Neuro Stepdown unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and input from patients and families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote effective patient care and outcomes.
  • Verify and implement orders from healthcare providers, performing interventions as prescribed and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Engage patients and their families in education and planning to promote optimal health outcomes.
  • Recognize symptoms, prioritize needs, and respond to changing patient conditions.
  • Delegate tasks to support personnel while maintaining accountability for patient care.
  • Advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession, promoting quality care and safety.
Requirements:
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR certification and other required unit-specific certifications.
  • Effective communication skills that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and healthcare providers.
  • Intermediate computer skills with ability to become proficient in Electronic Health Record (EHR) through on-the-job training.
