About the Position

Touro University Nevada is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to serve as a Dissertation Advisor for our School of Education. As a key member of our faculty team, you will play a critical role in guiding students through their dissertation journey, providing expert guidance and support to ensure their success.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Mentoring: Provide instruction and guidance to dissertation students in assigned capstone courses, ensuring they meet the requirements and expectations of the program.
  • Dissertation Milestone Support: Guide students through each dissertation milestone deliverable, ensuring compliance with template and rubric criteria, and providing formative and summative feedback to support their progress.
  • Student Support: Be available to meet with students through phone, Zoom, or other sources to address their questions and concerns, and provide support to ensure their scholarly completion of dissertation milestone documents.
  • Virtual Review Sessions: Participate in virtual review sessions with students during summer intensive sessions, providing feedback and guidance to support their progress.
  • Proposal and Manuscript Support: Prepare and support students for proposal and manuscript oral defenses, ensuring they are well-prepared and confident in their abilities.
  • Counseling and Advising: Counsel and advise dissertation students through committee member feedback, ensuring they meet University dissertation requirements and are well-prepared for their oral defenses.
  • Faculty Collaboration: Participate in faculty-directed activities integral to the university system, working collaboratively with other faculty members to support the success of our students.
  • Progress Monitoring: Meet with the Director of the School of Education to report on student milestone completion progress, addressing any issues, concerns, or successes, and ensuring student dissertation work complies with University standards.
  • Curriculum Development: Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that conforms with the Programs mission, goals, and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Education: EdD or PhD from a US accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Three years of dissertation chair experience (online preferred), five years of dissertation committee experience (online preferred), teaching experience at the University level preferred, online course instruction, multi-disciplinary experience in student dissertation development, knowledgeable in all aspects of five-chapter dissertation development, strong methodological background (qualitative and quantitative design and approach), ability to work collaboratively as a team with other Program and University faculty and colleagues, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to address diverse audiences, highly organized, self-starter, ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
