Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage VA Enterprise Cloud Operational Tools (VAECOT), native cloud platforms, and other approved resources to facilitate VA applications within the enterprise cloud.
  • Employ automation technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Formation to streamline processes.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and enhancement of monitoring solutions for both AWS and Azure environments, applicable to Windows and Linux servers.
  • Develop and sustain gold images and scripts for optimal performance.
  • Assist in reporting on the current state of infrastructure.
  • Document operational processes for each application through a comprehensive production operation manual (POM).

Essential Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (10 years of additional experience may substitute for a degree).
  • Possession of current AWS or Azure certification or recent exam completion (e.g., AWS CCP, AWS CSA associate/professional, AZ-900, AZ-104).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience leading technical teams to meet project goals.
  • Experience in developing and implementing technical standards and processes for both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Ability to recommend technology strategies with a high level of expertise.
  • Experience in providing technical guidance to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • At least three years of experience configuring and utilizing Azure cloud operational tools to meet service level agreements and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with one or more tools from the VAECOT suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active clearance for Public Trust (High-Risk) Position.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices or certification.
  • Ability to provide technical support and OS-level remediation for security scans.
  • Experience in network or systems administration within Linux (Red Hat) or Windows environments.
  • Understanding of security regulations, best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Support for application teams in system administration tasks.
  • Possession of one or more Microsoft or Amazon cloud certifications.
  • Prior experience in federal government roles, preferably with the VA.
  • Familiarity with configuration technologies such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes.
