About the Role

Pacific Life is seeking a highly skilled Emerging Market Credit Analysis Director to join our team in Newport Beach, CA. As a key member of our Emerging Markets team, you will play a critical role in supporting our growth and long-term success by conducting research and analyzing the dynamics and trends of countries and industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Emerging Markets debt team in conducting fundamental research on sovereign and quasi-sovereign issuers, as well as emerging market corporate and project finance issuers.
  • Independently conduct fixed income research studies, analyzing individual securities or classes of securities.
  • Make buy, sell, and hold recommendations based on your research findings.
  • Build a performance track record and provide direction to more junior research staff.
  • Conduct due diligence calls, analytical research, and participate in investor calls/roadshows.
  • Prepare summaries of investment opportunities, including document reviews of covenants and structural enhancements.
  • Analyze financial models and help to conduct portfolio analysis.
  • Manage the flow of investment offering material and monitor compliance reports to evaluate performance of portfolio positions.
  • Actively monitor existing portfolio investments and assets.
  • Represent Pacific Life with outside constituents, participate in investor conferences, and interact with various internal groups.
  • Develop relationships with sell-side stakeholders, including salespeople, traders, research analysts, and strategists.
  • Collaborate with fellow senior research analysts and portfolio managers in the execution of your duties.
  • Generate value-added trade ideas and participate in the execution of purchases of new issues and secondary trading.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in credit research, with a focus on sovereign analysis or specific industries/project finance.
  • MBA/CFA or advanced degree required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish/English bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Intellectual curiosity with a passion for a career in investments.
  • Risk appetite in alignment with Team's philosophy.
  • Big-picture thinker, excels working independently and managing through ambiguity.
