Theater Production Specialist 2 Job Description

UC San Diego's Department of Theatre & Dance is seeking a skilled Theater Production Specialist 2 to assist in the technical event management of the department's facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of technical aspects of production, including lighting, sound, and scenery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the setup, operation, and strike of productions, as well as providing technical supervision and production logistics for recurring events. Additionally, they will assist with the maintenance and repair of production equipment and ensure audience and crew safety.

This is a part-time 75% contract position for 8 months with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the technical event management of the department's facilities
  • Provide technical supervision and production logistics for recurring events
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of production equipment
  • Ensure audience and crew safety

Requirements:

  • Mastery level knowledge of technical aspects of production
  • Strong ability to direct technical aspects of an event in a timely manner
  • Strong knowledge of theatrical safety and security requirements
  • Good working knowledge of basic financial administration
