Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

At Birdon America Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our team in designing and delivering innovative maritime solutions. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a Ship Work Breakdown Structure (SWBS) team and ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of engineers in designing and developing mechanical systems for maritime vessels.
  • Develop and implement engineering change requests to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely receipt of deliverables and compliance with project requirements.
  • Analyze fuel, HVAC, steering, hydraulic, and propulsion systems to determine size requirements, power requirements, performance curves, and associated losses.
  • Perform hand calculations and FEA on structural components/assemblies to verify working stresses are below ultimate, yield, and endurance allowable.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in propulsion, hydraulic, fuel, water, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience leading small teams of engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Required skills: Automation, CAD, Process, Time Management, Judgment and Decision Making, Mathematics, Writing & Speaking, Compliance, Design, Management, Oral Expression, Written Expression, Deductive Reasoning, Problem Sensitivity.
Working Conditions:
  • Position requires use of computer, telephones, and other office equipment, reading, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift packages, equipment, etc., up to 20 lbs.
