Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Advocate to join our team at the City of Olympia. As a Public Safety Advocate, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and order, enforcing laws, and providing exceptional service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas of the city to prevent and respond to crimes, ensuring the safety of citizens and visitors.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, gather evidence, and make arrests as necessary to maintain public safety.
  • Prepare and present written reports, including case files and incident reports, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Testify in court as a witness or arresting officer, providing accurate and unbiased testimony.
  • Engage with the community through public presentations, educational programs, and outreach initiatives to promote public safety and awareness.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent required; prior law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet and maintain physical and health standards, including the possession of a valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Successful completion of polygraph and psychological examinations, as well as a thorough background investigation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and respectfully, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures governing law enforcement, including arrest, search and seizure, and evidence handling.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires regular and punctual attendance, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be required to wear a uniform and maintain a high level of physical fitness.
