We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our Endoscopy team at Duke Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect care to patients, ensuring a safe and efficient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Demonstrate correct and safe instrumentation passing and assist the provider in a safe and accurate manner.
- Maintain technical skills for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including obtaining specimens, attaching vital sign equipment, and positioning the patient.
- Assist the physician and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, handling instruments and equipment, calling out equipment readings, and collecting and labeling specimens while maintaining infection control standards.
- Manually clean endoscopes and perform high-level disinfection.
- Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or successful completion of the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification exam.
- Level I: Entry-level position for new graduates of Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologists with 0-18 months of experience.
- Level II: Requires 6-12 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Some roles within our organization may encompass essential job functions requiring distinct physical and/or mental capabilities.
