Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Assistant Teacher/Caregiver to join our team. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to our young patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with daily supervision, planning and implementing activities, and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in supervising the playground to ensure the safety of children and supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the school at all times, treating all children with dignity and respect.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks as per policy and assist the teacher as requested.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  • Complete 8 hours yearly of staff development as required by the Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.

Experience Required

  • Must have previous working experience with infants and young children.
  • Must have knowledge of appropriate developmental skills for children ages 0-6 years.
  • Previous classroom management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of licensing requirements, NAEYC Accreditation criteria, and developmentally appropriate practice in daily interactions in the classroom.

  • Ability to logically and independently plan and organize assignments.
  • Interpersonal skills must be well developed.
  • Ability and initiative to set and achieve high standards of performance.
  • Ability to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to learn specific job duties and complete detailed work assignments.

Education Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED recipient.
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development is preferred.

License/Certification Requirements

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
