Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Tax Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing the tax function at ArcelorMittal North America, focusing primarily on tax compliance and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of performance by exemplifying personal commitment and adherence to the company's core values and strategic objectives.
- Support internal processes and collaborate with external advisors to deliver both recurring and nonrecurring services.
- Oversee essential elements of the company's tax compliance, with a strong emphasis on federal income tax, while also engaging with international tax, transfer pricing, and state and local taxes (e.g., income/franchise tax, property tax, sales & use tax).
- Assist in the tax financial reporting process in conjunction with external service providers, including the calculation of tax balances, reporting through the general ledger, and managing audits of financial statement tax balances.
- Coordinate and maintain the tax return compliance process alongside external service providers and the Tax Manager, ensuring timely filings and accurate calculations of tax payments.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly tax reporting schedules and perform reconciliations.
- Conduct research and respond to inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities.
- Engage in tax controversy, planning, process enhancements, and assessment of legislative and regulatory changes.
- Execute departmental organizational and administrative tasks as required.
- Collaborate with legal and insurance departments to support insurance coverage renewals and claims administration.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience in tax.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Experience in tax compliance and financial reporting.
- Exposure to tax controversy or planning is advantageous.
- Familiarity with state and local tax or international tax is a plus.
- CPA or Master's in Taxation (JD or MBA preferred).
