Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at Ascension. As a key member of our Sterile Processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in the processing and sterilization of medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrument Inspection and Preparation: Inspect, assemble, and evaluate surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validate completeness of set, and facilitate effective sterilization.
  • Sterilization and Decontamination: Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning. Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
Requirements
  • Licensure/Certification: One or more of the following required: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in sterile processing or a related field.
