Medical Administrative Assistant

Description
Job PurposeThe Insurance Coordinator will provide timely and efficient administrative support to office staff and management at Med-Metrix.
Duties and Responsibilities- Distribute documents, faxes, and correspondence in a timely manner.
- Handle all incoming legal requests and self-pay correspondence.
- Create itemized billing as needed.
- Photocopy, scan, and upload documents into various document and/or EMR systems.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail.
- Process, research, and correct "Bad Mail" in client systems.
- Complete medical and billing record requests.
- Follow Charity Care Approval Procedures.
- Follow Death Certificate and Bankruptcy procedures.
- Maintain filing systems.
- Answer incoming calls.
- Maintain a professional attitude.
- Perform all other duties as directed by the Manager.
- Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to work on-site is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of EMR systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures.
- Knowledge of healthcare administration is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of email and the internet.
- Accurate keyboard skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move around the work area; sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computers, computer peripherals, and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk, and hear.
- Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow directions, collaborate with others, and handle stress.
- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
