Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Chicago, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Ultrasound Technologist to perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment, preparing patients for exams, and providing high-quality images for diagnostic assessment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a comprehensive array of abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts procedures, demonstrating a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology.
  • Accurately recognize and document critical findings, such as deep vein thrombosis, ectopic pregnancy, and aortic aneurysms or dissection.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Assist physicians during procedures, such as amniocentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, and cath lab procedures.
  • Assess arterial circulation using pulse doppler, duplex imaging, and physiologic indirect testing.
  • Document patient history and images for analysis and interpretation.
  • Participate in the department's QA program and accreditation process.
  • Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment.
  • Provide technical support for the smooth operation of the Ultrasound and Vascular Department.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest ultrasound developments and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 3 months.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS within 18 months.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 18 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Allied Health or Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science.
  • 1 year experience in Abdomen and OB/GYN.
  • 1 year experience in Vascular exams.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and STAT call-ins.
  • Ability to perform lifting and transferring related to patient care.
  • Ability to move ultrasound equipment for portable studies.
  • Ability to communicate with patients and respond to patients in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.
  • Exposure to ill patients; may be exposed to blood and urine samples.
