Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer - Network

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer - Network to join our team in San Diego, California.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Systems Engineer with expertise in network design, implementation, and maintenance. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of network systems, ensuring the highest level of performance, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain network systems, including routing and switching protocols, network security devices, and software-defined architectures.
  • Conduct testing and validation of network systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network systems with other IT systems and applications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, implementation plans, and test reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited university and 8 years of experience in network engineering, or a master's degree in a STEM field and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience.
  • Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted/renewed within the past 6 years.
  • Experience designing and maintaining network routing and switching systems, deploying and maintaining network information and event management systems, and working with container networking and automation/orchestration systems.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills, including C, C++, Java, Python, and Ansible.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and container networking, layer 2 and layer 3 switching design and implementation, VLAN design, tagging, trunking, and 802.1Q.
