About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Maritime Risk Assurance Manager to join our team at Carnival Cruise Lines. As a key member of our Risk Advisory & Assurance Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our operations across the globe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Audit and Advisory Activities:
    • Lead a team of internal auditors to conduct audits and reviews of our maritime operations, including health, environmental, safety, and security (HESS) disciplines.
    • Develop and implement an annual HESS audit plan to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Oversee internal audits of our safety management system (SMS) and identify areas for improvement.
    • Conduct newbuild assessments of our ships to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Lead shore-based audits of our port operations, tour facilities, and training facilities.
    • Identify and implement best practices in HESS disciplines across our brands.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor and report on management's progress in implementing agreed-upon opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide regular updates to the Chief Audit Officer on HESS audit activities, including audit results and trends.
    • Report to the Board on the annual audit plan, audit results, and trends by HESS discipline.
  • Relationship Building:
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior executive brand HESS management, brand presidents, the Chief Maritime Officer, the CEO, and the Chair of the HESS Committees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a maritime-related field of study or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
  • 10 years of maritime experience, including experience in HESS disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and requirements, applicable to passenger ships.
