Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Marina, CA. As a key member of our Building Department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, conducting site inspections, and providing expert advice to builders, contractors, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning ordinances, and safety regulations.
  • Review plans and specifications for new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Issue permits and approvals for building projects, and conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints and violations related to building codes and regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to builders, contractors, and the public on building codes and regulations.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in building inspection or three years of journey-level experience in construction work and the building trades.
  • Completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Possession of an ICC B1 certification, with the ability to obtain E1, P1, and M1 certifications within 12 months of employment.
  • A valid California State Driver's license.
Working Conditions

Employees work in an office environment or in any building or structure within the service area. Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to inclement weather, exposure to noise, dust, grease fumes, gases, and potentially hazardous chemicals. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
