Vast is seeking a highly skilled Additive Manufacturing Engineer to support the development of systems for artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This role will involve optimizing and developing all aspects of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing, as well as collaborating with design, analysis, materials, and responsible engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Optimize and develop LPBF additive manufacturing processes
  • Develop new additive applications, platforms, and material parameters
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate additive manufacturing into space station design
  • Work hands-on with additive platforms, including optimization, troubleshooting, and calibration
  • Investigate and develop new additive technologies to meet business needs
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in materials science, welding, mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in propulsion design or metallic additive technologies
  • Strong knowledge of first principles and engineering fundamentals
  • Deep expertise in metal additive manufacturing technology
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with engineering and manufacturing groups
  • Highly self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of LPBF experience with large-scale multi-laser additive platforms
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted

Vast offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a base salary, company equity, and access to a full suite of benefits and perks. The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
