Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Therapist to join our team at Little City Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing recreation and fitness programs for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and facilitate recreation and fitness programs for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Assess the specific needs, abilities, and interests of clients to develop a person-centered recreation and fitness plan
  • Provide direction and guidance to individuals participating in recreation activities and staff members supporting the individuals
  • Prepare documentation, including individual and summary reports, to track participation and progress of individuals engaged in fitness programs
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of fitness innovations, research, equipment, and recreational interventions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy and CTRS certification
  • One year of experience working with children with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Ability to meet DCFS and DHS background and drivers' clearances requirements
  • Professional Rescuer/Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain certification in first year of employment
Work Environment

The Recreation Therapist will work in a dynamic and supportive environment with a team of experienced professionals. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

The Recreation Therapist will be responsible for working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which may include individuals with autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will be required to have a strong understanding of the needs and abilities of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and be able to develop and implement recreation and fitness programs that meet their needs.
