Electrician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrician Apprentice to join our team at Killeen Independent School District. As an Electrician Apprentice, you will assist experienced electricians in installing and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.

• Gather and organize tools and supplies for work sites.
• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit to specifications.
• Drill holes for wiring and pull or push wiring through openings.
• Identify and troubleshoot short circuits in electrical systems.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.
• Perform minor repairs, including replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
• Maintain tools and equipment, and keep supplies and parts organized.
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment.
• Clean work areas, machines, tools, and equipment, and perform other routine duties.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in electrical service preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to learn electrical technical information and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

The Electrician Apprentice will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock. The work environment will include wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
