Compensation: $19 - $22 per hour

The role of the School Aide/CNA involves providing essential support to students who require educational, personal care, and behavioral assistance under the guidance of the special education department or designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives, focusing on subjects such as math, reading, and speech, while managing behavioral challenges in both one-on-one and classroom settings.
  • Assist in executing teacher-led learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement strategies, small group sessions, social interactions, and task assistance.
  • Support students during their integration into general education classes.
  • Relay important information to educators regarding student progress and needs.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and community activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning all student-related matters, including communications with parents, unless directed otherwise by certified personnel.
  • Facilitate activities outlined in prescribed programs developed by related service professionals such as Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Assist students in developing independent living skills through self-care tasks, including toileting, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Provide personal care assistance with health-related tasks, hygiene services, feeding, and other necessary support for the student's well-being.
  • May assist in implementing behavior management strategies as directed by teachers or other school professionals.
  • Support educators with clerical tasks, including preparing materials, maintaining an organized classroom, and scoring assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current state-certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Adherence to all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Completion of TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
  • Valid health certificate in accordance with contract or state regulations.
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as required for the position.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English, to effectively convey and receive information.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.

General Information:

  • Full-time position.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday.
  • Assignments may include both one-on-one and classroom support.
  • Transportation may be necessary for certain assignments.
