Key Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Director of Information Technology Services, the IT Systems Administrator will manage all core IT functions for the Town, including:

  • Administration of networks, applications, databases, and cybersecurity.
  • Overseeing backups and supporting server, network, and desktop hardware, software, and applications.
  • Monitoring and managing data center resources to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conducting system backup and recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing network issues, implementing repairs as necessary.
  • Installing and maintaining network servers, operating systems, printers, switches, and other equipment.
  • Performing security risk assessments and monitoring for security violations.

The IT Systems Administrator will also serve as a lead resource for team members, demonstrating strong project management, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include researching and recommending hardware, software, and communication technologies to improve performance, as well as assisting in technology planning through ongoing research and analysis.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field, along with five (5) years of relevant experience, including current systems administration experience on a medium-sized network. A combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of this position may be considered.

Essential skills include:

  • Experience managing a network with 250+ nodes, including firewalls.
  • Proficiency in Windows servers, Microsoft desktop products, networking concepts, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and database administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

Criminal background checks, drug testing, and driving record checks will be conducted prior to employment.

Certifications

Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required.
