Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Bolivar, MO. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Oversight:
    • Develop and implement a program that addresses local school speech-language goals.
    • Collaborate with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education agency.
    • Create a schedule for speech/language services, coordinating with student services provided by other school personnel.
    • Maintain records of the speech-language program and prepare periodic reports as required.
    • Adhere to established rules, regulations, laws, and appropriate ethical standards.
  • Screening, Testing, Diagnosing, and Advising:
    • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings as needed.
    • Administer formal and informal speech/language assessments per state plan guidelines.
    • Obtain additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.
    • Analyze and interpret information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech language services.
    • Provide information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language, and hearing programs.
    • Supervise undergraduate interns, Speech Language Assistants, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and other professionals as appropriate.
  • Managing and Conducting Therapy:
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Missouri Learning Standards in the management of communicative disorders.
    • Collaborate/consult with classroom teachers in the management of speech-language disorders.
    • Plan evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students.
    • Use evidence-based methods and techniques appropriate to stated objectives.
    • Manage facilities, materials, and equipment, including assistive technology, necessary to the delivery of services.
    • Adjust intervention strategies based on student performance.
    • Promote effective interpersonal relations with students and caregivers.
  • Adhering to Local, State, Federal Regulations, and Ethical Practices:
    • Complete procedural documentation appropriately.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and use of education-based statewide testing procedures.
    • Abide by professional code of ethics.
    • Develop appropriate IEPs based on students' strengths and needs and state plan regulations.
    • Demonstrate awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments.
    • Manage time efficiently.
    • Engage in continuing education and professional growth activities related to the speech-language profession.
  • Liaison:
    • Provide consultation and updates to parents, teachers, and other appropriate school personnel.
    • Seek assistance from teachers, parents, and others to meet the communication needs of students.
    • Consult/communicate with non-school agencies to enhance services as needed.
    • Make recommendations and referrals for audiological/medical and related services as needed.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Maintain the confidential nature of all school-related matters.
    • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Special Education Director, Principal, or Superintendent.

Qualifications:

We require a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology and appropriate certification in the field. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively with students, parents, and staff, and have a strong commitment to providing high-quality services.

Working Conditions:

The Speech Language Pathologist will work in a typical classroom environment and may be required to travel within the district. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to work in a fast-paced environment.
