Job Summary and QualificationsWe are looking for a hospital-based Histology Specialist to provide expertise and drive results.
Our team is committed to supporting each other, and we seek an exceptional addition who shares our passion for meaningful patient experiences.
Your Responsibilities:
- Analyze testing samples according to established protocols and perform quality control procedures as required.
- Embed tissue specimens in the correct orientation efficiently.
- Section paraffin blocks at an average rate that meets departmental standards.
- Produce sections of appropriate thickness with minimal cutting artifacts.
- Conduct routine H & E staining in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Identify inferior staining prior to submission and rectify issues to meet quality standards.
- Perform on-site special stains and histochemical methods as needed.
- Prepare smears, cell blocks, and Cytospin preparations accurately.
- Ensure accurate entry of Cytology and Pathology numbers in the computer system along with all clinical data provided.
- A 2 Year/Associate Degree in Science.
- A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is advantageous.
- A State of Florida Technologist License or the ability to obtain one during the interview process.
- Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in a high-volume histology setting is preferred.
