Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (Instructional) provides instructional supervision support to students in health occupations classes under the supervision of the Building Administrator and with direction from one or more teachers.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assist health occupations teachers in providing instructional support to students.
  • Supervise students as directed by the teacher(s) to ensure safety and learning of students.
  • Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
  • Work with individual students or groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assist teacher(s) with documentation and other clerical functions.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work in collaboration with the teacher.
  • Assist with the reasonable supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and instructional activities.
  • Support and demonstrate core values of Stafford Schools.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation to high school.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (required).
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic health care practices and medication administration.
  • Guidelines of Confidentiality as outlined in Federal and State laws and county policies and procedures.
  • Special education process (including IEPs).
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The work environment is inside an office in a school, with quiet to moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and some exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.

The work is moderate, requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
