University Security Specialist

OBJECTIVE


To deliver professional security services across the University premises by managing access to all facilities; conducting regular patrols of the grounds and buildings; generating detailed reports based on daily operations, and executing specific responsibilities related to the safety, security, tranquility, and public relations of the University community.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to the daily protocols for securing and accessing buildings.
  • Conducts routine inspections of facilities and grounds during shifts to identify any potential damage.
  • Regularly patrols parking areas to ensure smooth traffic flow.
  • Issues parking citations when necessary.
  • Impounds unauthorized vehicles in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Provides assistance to visitors, students, faculty, and staff with vehicle issues, directions, and inquiries as needed.
  • Engages in organized initiatives for training, crime prevention, and community engagement.
  • Documents incidents and prepares reports as required by departmental standards.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with various campus departments, faculty, and students.
  • Handles telephone communications and directs information to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to further the mission of Life University.
  • Secures and grants access to campus facilities and surrounding areas.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education, Training, and Experience

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with relevant experience in security or law enforcement.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Attributes

  • Possesses foundational knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Capable of performing tasks independently under general supervision.
  • Adept at prioritizing and managing multiple assignments while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all levels.
  • Possesses well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to organize tasks, manage various responsibilities simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in report writing and business correspondence.

Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to perform CPR and basic life-saving techniques.
  • Skilled in observing and identifying problems, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License is mandatory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of training from a certified police academy, security school, or military police training program.
  • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited institution along with two years of experience in law enforcement or security.
