Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Music Skills Specialist to join our team at the University of Hartford. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing schedules, recruiting students, preparing weekly lessons/classes, and providing educational leadership in all areas of expertise for the Hartt Community Division (HCD).

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development
    • Prepare lesson plans and teach subject matter expertise to students of all ages at the HCD.
    • Actively participate in the recruitment of students by visiting schools, providing detailed information relative to HCD offerings, and teaching Master Classes to interested students.
  • Student Retention and Support
    • Support the retention of students by offering exceptional lessons that promote a sense of community, build ongoing relationships with students and parents, and provide recommendations regarding opportunities and options to further their studies with HCD.
  • Program Administration
    • Administer programs as necessary and appropriate.
    • Develop class schedules and prepare teaching lessons.
  • Community Engagement
    • Attend recitals, concerts, workshops, and other school activities in support of the HCD program and its students.
    • Attend HCD meetings to maintain current knowledge of events, programs, and teaching/learning methodologies.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Identify and positively promote performance and educational leadership opportunities for HCD students.
    • Organize recitals and other events for students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
