The Substitute Custodian cleans and maintains assigned school facilities, group of buildings, office spaces, and adjacent grounds, belonging to the Santa Clara County Office of Education, in a clean, orderly, and secure manner. Employees in this class receive direct to general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this class exercise responsibility for the general cleanliness of assigned location(s) and facilities.
Responsibilities- Clean and maintain assigned school facilities, group of buildings, office spaces, and adjacent grounds.
- Ensure a clean, orderly, and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Perform custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning of floors, walls, and surfaces.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Restock and replenish cleaning supplies and materials.
- Report any maintenance or repair issues to the facilities management team.
- Generally, any combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities is considered qualifying.
- A typical method of demonstrating these qualifications would be: 3-6 months of custodial work experience or completion of a custodial training program.
The Substitute Custodian is an on-call, part-time, temporary position.
