Job Summary

System One is seeking a highly experienced Sr. Staff Geotechnical Engineer to lead and manage projects in the Pittsburgh, PA area. As Engineer-of-Record, you will be responsible for planning, engineering, and design of geotechnical and geophysical investigations, instrumentation programs, and in-situ & laboratory testing programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly lead and manage projects, including planning, engineering, and design
  • Serve as Engineer-of-Record on design and design-build projects
  • Manage client expectations and prepare design documentation reports and calculation briefs
  • Originate geotechnical analyses and designs for dams, cofferdams, traditional & specialty geo-structures, deep foundations, and ground improvement programs
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to internal and external clients, government regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Support project and business development activities, proposal and budget generation, and strategic planning
Requirements
  • BS degree in civil engineering from a U.S. college or university with an ABET-accredited civil/geotechnical engineering program
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience providing technical leadership and guidance for geotechnical, civil engineering design, and site development projects
  • Experience with Coal-Fired Power, Mining, Energy, Oil & Gas, Waste Industries, and other Industrial Clients
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office software suite and widely used public domain geotechnical analysis and design software
Preferred Qualifications
  • ME or MS with a concentration in geotechnical engineering
  • Experience in liquefaction assessment/triggering analyses and seismic hazard assessment
  • Team builder with the ability to mentor, develop, and facilitate quality performance from the individuals within the department
