About the Job:

Guy's Quality Meats is a leading full-line food service distributor and retail butcher shop seeking a skilled Meat Cutter/Butcher to join our team. As a Meat Cutter/Butcher, you will be responsible for operating meat department equipment, assisting customers, and handling raw meat products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate meat department equipment such as band saw, meat grinder, meat blender, cuber, wrapper, scale, and slicer.
  • Assist customers, process verbal orders, and deliver orders to the customer.
  • Visually identify product and PLU code; manually enter into the scale for pricing.
  • Handle various raw meat products to cut, prepare, wrap, price, and stock.
  • Utilize all trimmings, excess, and useable portions of meat items.
  • Ensure that perishable merchandise is rotated in accordance with department policies and product code dates.
  • Ensure that all signs and prices are maintained accurately and are correctly positioned over each respective product.
  • Notes damage and piece count when applicable.
  • Advises the purchasing department of shortages and overages.
  • Stocks all goods in appropriate locations.
  • Maintaining a clean work area.
  • Assists in physical inventories.
  • Maintain cleanliness, maintenance, and sanitation.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective practices and procedures, including FDA, USDA, and other governmental agencies.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks when needed.
  • Assist with customer service, warehouse operations, forklift operation, product handling, and sanitation.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all temperature checks are recorded daily for the warehouse, freezers, trailers, and refrigerators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
