We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team as a Polysomnographic Technologist. As an RRT, you will be responsible for performing polysomnographic testing and titration studies, evaluating sleep stages and medical conditions, and analyzing data to enable physician diagnosis and treatment of sleep and breathing disorders.
Responsibilities- Perform polysomnographic testing and titration studies, including applying testing electrodes and monitors in multiple body sites per standard and facility protocol.
- Evaluate the relationship of events, sleep stages, and possible medical conditions that influence or result from events occurring during sleep.
- Anticipate potential problems likely to occur during a sleep study, prepare for such situations, and make changes in established procedures.
- Obtain data measuring wake, sleep, and breathing states and record various signals from the brain and airways, cardiac rate, oxygen saturation, and position to enable the physician to assess and diagnose sleep and breathing disorders.
- Analyze and score patient data and summarize reports for physician interpretation.
- Monitor and initiate interventions for complications of testing and determine whether patients meet criteria for termination of testing.
- Perform home sleep testing, upload data, and present reports for physician interpretation.
- Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers related to the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
- Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers related to the use, management, and maintenance of home positive airway pressure therapy equipment and supplies.
- Monitor patient compliance with prescribed therapy by follow-up assessment with device download and documentation of subjective response to therapy.
- Offer additional follow-up visits for poor compliance, inadequate response to therapy, mask fitting, desensitization, and/or replacement of device interfaces.
- Act as liaison between Dental Services for oral appliances and Behavioral Health for cognitive behavioral therapy.
- Monitor patients, recognize the need for assistance if patient safety or health is at risk, and initiate interventions for complications of testing or medication delivery.
- Communicate with other healthcare team members, orally, in writing, and/or through electronic charting, any changes, adjustments, and recommendations for patient care.
- Provide training and competency assessment of staff in the performance of positive airway pressure equipment.
- Provide effective education and training, as appropriate, to patients, family members, students, volunteers, and coworkers; secure the confidence and cooperation of patients by explaining procedures to obtain optimal compliance with and management of therapy.
Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (subject to change based on the needs of the facility)
