About the Position:


Wells Fargo is in search of a Relationship Banker (SAFE) within our National Branch Network, part of the Consumer, Small & Business Banking division.

After fulfilling the necessary licensing and SAFE registration, the Relationship Banker LP (SAFE) will transition into the Relationship Banker (SAFE) role.


This job profile provides a general overview of the responsibilities of Relationship Bankers; however, daily tasks may vary by branch and individual banker based on various factors, including experience, customer base, and service offerings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Individuals not fully licensed upon hiring will engage in the Branch Banking Licensed Banker program as a Relationship Banker LP (SAFE). This is a provisional role until licensing requirements are met.
Upon successful licensing, employees will transition to the Relationship Banker (SAFE) position and undertake the following duties:

  • Cultivate relationships with clients and gain insights into their needs
  • Identify opportunities to present a comprehensive range of Wells Fargo retail banking products and services tailored to customer requirements
  • Analyze business challenges related to full-service banking for affluent and high-value clients
  • Provide solutions for inquiries and service requests regarding client accounts
  • Open and manage accounts within authorized limits, and establish follow-up plans with clients
  • Share information with internal teams and external partners to enhance the customer experience
  • Recognize opportunities to connect clients with the appropriate partners or relationship managers to address their needs
  • Collaborate with financial advisors to facilitate introductions for clients with investment or retirement needs
  • Offer digital banking solutions to clients
  • This SAFE position involves customer interaction and responsibilities that may include negotiating terms and processing applications for secured transactions, necessitating compliance with the SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations. Continued employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements, including satisfactory background checks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in customer service, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education
  • 1+ year of experience in assessing customer needs or assisting with issue resolution
  • 1+ year of experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 6 and Series 63 examinations (or equivalent) for immediate registration
  • State Insurance license(s)
  • Strong customer service skills with experience managing transactions across various systems
  • Proficient in proactively sourcing, acquiring, and nurturing relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of business processes to effectively manage a portfolio of Wells Fargo clients
  • Innovative and proactive in addressing customer and organizational needs
  • Ability to conduct client outreach and actively engage in the sales development process
  • Understanding of retail compliance controls and risk management
  • Ability to adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations
  • High motivation to meet team objectives while maintaining individual performance
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching peers
  • Experience in evaluating customer needs and recommending suitable products/services
  • Familiarity with financial services consumer lending products
  • Ability to educate clients on technology and promote mobile banking options
  • Professional and ethical interaction with clients and colleagues

Job Expectations:

  • Flexibility to work a schedule that may include Saturdays
  • Adherence to Wells Fargo's risk management culture
  • Current registration for FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 (or equivalent) is required or must be completed within a specified timeframe
  • State Insurance license(s) are required and must be obtained within a specified period
