About the Position:


Wells Fargo is in search of a Relationship Banker (SAFE) for our National Branch Network, part of the Consumer, Small & Business Banking division.

Upon meeting the necessary licensing and SAFE registration, the Relationship Banker LP (SAFE) will transition into the Relationship Banker (SAFE) role.


This job profile provides a general overview of the responsibilities of Relationship Bankers; however, daily tasks may vary from branch to branch and banker to banker, influenced by factors such as experience, customer base, and the specific banking services offered.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Individuals not fully licensed upon hiring will engage in the Branch Banking Licensed Banker licensing program as a Relationship Banker LP (SAFE). This is a temporary role until the employee fulfills licensing requirements.
Upon successful completion, employees will transition to the Relationship Banker (SAFE) role and undertake the following duties:

  • Cultivate relationships with clients, taking the time to understand their needs
  • Identify opportunities to present a comprehensive range of Wells Fargo retail banking deposit and credit products and services, tailored to customer needs
  • Analyze business challenges related to providing a full-service banking experience to affluent and high-value clients
  • Offer solutions for inquiries and service requests regarding customer accounts
  • Open and manage accounts within authorized limits, developing follow-up plans and scheduled communications with clients
  • Share information with internal partners and external sources to enhance the customer experience
  • Recognize opportunities to connect clients with the appropriate partner or relationship manager to address their needs
  • Collaborate with financial advisors to facilitate introductions that meet the investment or retirement needs of clients
  • Provide customers with self-service digital banking options
  • This SAFE position involves customer interaction and responsibilities that may include negotiating terms and/or processing applications for secured transactions. Compliance with the SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations is required. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including satisfactory background investigation results. Individuals in a SAFE position must also meet the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO) as outlined in the job expectations below

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of customer service experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education
  • At least 1 year of experience in assessing and meeting customer needs or resolving issues, demonstrated through work or military experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and partners

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 6 and Series 63 examinations (or equivalent) sufficient for immediate FINRA registration
  • State Insurance license(s)
  • Strong customer service focus with experience managing transactions across various systems
  • Proficient in proactively sourcing, acquiring, building, and maintaining relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of business processes to effectively manage a group of Wells Fargo clients to meet their needs and grow the business
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative, and creative in addressing customer and enterprise needs
  • Capability to make client calls and actively engage in the sales development process
  • Understanding of retail compliance controls, risk management, and loss prevention
  • Ability to adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations
  • High motivation with the ability to meet team objectives while maintaining individual performance
  • Experience in mentoring and peer coaching
  • Experience in assessing customer needs and recommending products/services to fulfill those needs
  • Familiarity with financial services consumer lending products
  • Ability to educate and connect clients to technology and highlight the benefits of mobile banking options
  • Ability to interact with integrity and professionalism with clients and colleagues

Job Expectations:

  • Availability to work a schedule that may include most Saturdays
  • Adherence to Wells Fargo's sales practices and risk management culture
  • Current registration for FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 (or equivalent) is required for this role or must be completed within a specified timeframe. For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite will be required
  • For certain states of employment, the FINRA Series 65 (or equivalent) examination will also be required to be attempted within a specified timeframe
  • State Insurance license(s) are required for this role and must be completed within a specified timeframe
