Job Opportunity

ORDERS Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing cost estimates for large heavy civil projects and will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects involving earthwork and underground utilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed cost estimates that meet the requirements of the project
  • Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs
  • Develop high-level scoping of the project to create estimate summaries and outsourcing control worksheets
  • Lead outreach to subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing information
  • Visit project sites, participate in pre-proposal meetings, and clarify scope of work
  • Prepare written statements of qualifications and proposals that respond to project owners' requests
  • Evaluate projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings
  • Work closely with ORDERS personnel and stakeholders to develop strategy and competitive differentiation
  • Understand and seek out specialty subcontractors and suppliers that meet project requirements
  • Develop and manage preliminary bid schedules
  • Develop self-performed estimates for trades that ORDERS chooses to self-perform
  • Work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders through the bid process to capture the complete scope of each trade
  • Accurately utilize project plans and specifications to identify scopes of work, assign crews, schedules, materials, and subcontracting opportunities
  • Manage bid receipt of subcontractor and supplier pricing to develop ORDERS' final selling price and offer
  • Understand and manage ORDERS' risk as part of the proposal preparation process
  • Proposal development and technical writing
Requirements
  • 4-year BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, P.E. preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in heavy civil structures estimating preferred
  • Estimating experience with bridges, CIP concrete structures, retaining walls, and other structures required
  • Experience in all aspects of heavy civil work scopes preferred
  • Experience with DOTs preferred
  • Experience with B2W preferred
  • Alternate delivery experience preferred including technical writing skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Sense of urgency and ability to multi-task
  • Highly productive and willing to manage a busy work schedule independently
  • Superior verbal and written (including technical) communication skills
