KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The individual in this role will be accountable for the following functions, along with any additional responsibilities as assigned:
Fosters exceptional customer engagement by promoting a positive, customer-centric atmosphere among team members. Welcomes customers with a smile, addresses inquiries, and resolves issues efficiently and courteously. Strives for continuous enhancement in all departmental areas and implements necessary changes for improvement. Accepts customer orders via phone or in-store with a friendly demeanor. Identifies customer preferences regarding size, flavor, and presentation. Crafts the final decorated items promptly. Adorns cakes and other baked goods utilizing various colors, specific patterns, or custom designs. Employs a range of creams, frostings, and fillings to achieve consistent results. Prepares icing for cakes and related items, adhering to established recipes. Oversees department inventory by analyzing weekly sales data and ordering products and supplies to fulfill customer needs, enhance sales, and achieve company profit objectives. Organizes the schedule for all Bakery staff, supervises and engages in training, acknowledges performance, and assigns tasks to effectively leverage skills while maximizing departmental profitability. Participates in performance evaluations and interviews for new hires. Utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) for both current and new team members. Develops and executes merchandising strategies that align with financial targets. Maintains awareness of weekly promotions and specials to ensure accurate pricing and production levels. Continuously expands knowledge of available products. Enforces company policies regarding production documentation. Observes competitor activities related to merchandising, pricing, quality, and signage. Prepares, maintains, and monitors records related to inventory to compute monthly gross profits in accordance with company standards. Keeps track of departmental records and reports on significant matters including employee performance and discipline, sales, and future initiatives. Reviews and confirms all department deliveries and invoices to ensure correct billing. May assist in unloading products and transporting them to the sales area or storage. Adheres to departmental protocols regarding receiving, dating, and restocking to guarantee product rotation. Monitors quality and freshness of products. Processes deliveries. Manages departmental expenses by enhancing operations and efficiencies, controlling labor costs, and minimizing losses due to damages, spoilage, and shrinkage. Ensures staff accurately follow company recipes for prepared items. Maintains product freshness by properly removing and documenting expired items. Completes necessary product logs. Ensures the bakery department is well-stocked and visually appealing to satisfy customer demand. Greets customers with a smile, offers suggestions, and answers questions regarding various products. Addresses customer concerns promptly and courteously. Guarantees that products are fresh, in sellable condition, and correctly priced with appropriate signage. Handles spoiled or damaged items, or those nearing expiration, according to company protocols. Removes unsellable products to maintain quality. May assist in the production of breads, pastries, and other baked goods for sale. Complies with production documentation and company-approved recipes. Maintains security and organization in the backroom and receiving areas by promoting 5S practices. Responsible for overall cleanliness in the department. Adheres to cleaning schedules and departmental guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc., are well-maintained, clean, and compliant with health and OSHA standards. Disposes of waste appropriately. Ensures the smooth operation of the department and store by collaborating with colleagues and supervisors. Committed to continuously enhancing job and departmental performance. Responsible for the proper use of all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. May also be required to assist in other departments as needed.SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Oversees team members within the department. May assume complete leadership of the establishment in the absence of store management. The specific number of associates under supervision varies based on store size and the presence of management.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
To excel in this position, the Associate must effectively perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. An Associate or bachelor's degree in a business-related or food service-related field is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of management experience in a retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment is necessary. Previous decorating experience is advantageous.
