Job Overview

A dynamic production facility is in search of skilled operators for various roles including Sit Down Forklift Operators, Clamp Forklift Operators, Baler Operators, Bander Operators, and Sheet Line Operators for 2nd and 3rd shifts. The specific position will be assigned based on individual skills and availability during the orientation and training period.

Available Shifts:
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM - $20.15/hr
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM - $20.25/hr
  • Must be prepared to work 12-hour shifts regularly.
Baler Operator Responsibilities:
  • Consistently feed various grades of cardboard and paper onto the baler conveyor to optimize product value.
  • Ensure a steady supply of sorted materials to the baler for uninterrupted processing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inventory area by properly stacking empty containers and removing debris.
  • Enhance the baled value of materials while minimizing labor costs through effective planning and staging.
  • Oversee all aspects of safely operating the baler, including operation, cleanup, and suggesting operational improvements.
  • Produce high-quality bales.
  • Operate the shredder to process unusable paper and corrugated scrap.
  • Assist with two-person feeds as required.
  • Keep accurate records of bale production.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures, ensuring a tidy work environment.
  • Responsible for collecting scrap outside the facility.
Bander Operator Responsibilities:
  • Properly band units as they arrive on the conveyor, monitoring for quality and directing units to the correct shipping line.
  • Safely clear jams in accordance with the company's lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Verify load tags against unit sizes for accuracy.
  • Apply appropriate dunnage before banding.
  • Band units according to specified patterns.
  • Ensure units exit on the correct discharge line.
  • Reload the bander with full rolls when necessary.
  • Maintain a supply of top/cover sheets in the work area.
Sheet Line Operator Responsibilities:
  • Match load tags with units, measuring and inspecting all units for quality.
  • Report any discrepancies in measurements or inspections immediately.
  • Ensure load tags accurately reflect unit dimensions and scores.
  • Restack units that do not meet quality standards.
  • Arrange units as per customer specifications, shipping requirements, or editing needs, following all special instructions.
  • Dispose of defective sheets and zero cuts from units, ensuring all adjustments are noted on the load tag.
  • Insert appropriate bottom dunnage for unitization.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork skills with effective communication abilities.
  • Proficient in recognizing numbers and sequences.
  • Willingness to work overtime on short notice, including weekends.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and around heavy machinery.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure accurately.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
  • Visual capabilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently step up and down from platforms and bend at the waist.
