Responsibilities
As a Breast Imaging Specialist, you will:
  • Conduct diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform mammographic imaging for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures as per training.
  • Utilize immobilization devices, select appropriate technical factors tailored to individual patient needs, and operate equipment for specific procedures.
  • Ensure accurate identification of patient images with the correct name and MRN number, marking images appropriately and ensuring all images are initialed by the technologist.
  • Assist in quality control procedures, including documenting phantom images, repeat analysis, calibration tests, and other quality assurance tasks as delegated by leadership.
  • Compile statistics for patient follow-ups, track breast localizations, and monitor biopsy recommendations and outcomes.
  • Document quality control and assurance procedures in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Ensure proper operation of the Faxitron system.
  • Record pertinent patient information in the EMR (EPIC).
  • Adapt care delivery to meet the specific needs of the patient population, considering factors such as age, culture, and language.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and adhere to proper shielding protocols.
  • Ensure examination rooms are stocked and organized.
  • Track patient locations during visits and ensure timely initiation and completion of procedures.
  • Identify and address equipment technical errors promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including training new personnel.
  • Adhere to the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • A minimum of 24 continuing education credits every two years, with at least 5 credits focused on mammography annually.
  • Eligibility for the National Registry (ARRT) and successful completion of the examination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • Registered Technologist in Radiology & Mammography.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
