Job Summary

Sonoma State University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity while enforcing laws and regulations on campus. You will work closely with the Chief of Police and other law enforcement professionals to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in law enforcement, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will be responsible for conducting investigations, writing reports, and testifying in court as needed. You will also be required to participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest law enforcement techniques and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations on campus

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition that might adversely affect the exercise of police powers
  • POST certification that has not been revoked, denied, or voluntarily surrendered
  • Successful completion of an oral interview, written examination, physical agility test, and medical exams
Preferred Qualifications
  • A BS/BA degree and law enforcement experience in a college or university setting
  • Knowledge of Google Suite and technology often used by law enforcement

Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation, and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
